After her mother passed away from cancer there was no one to care for her in the city. The divorce had taken its toll on both her mom and dad. He moved to Kansas and she stayed in Washington D.C. He started a dog breeding farm and was doing quite well, not to mention he had remarried and had two step-daughters from it while her mom was living on welfare dying from cancer. Her mom had stayed single not wanting to place Katie in any awkward situations. Well THAT was over now.</p>
