Northern Lights

Author's Note: Long winter nights for fun and profit. Prolog I’m not sure who I am writing this for, but up here, the nights are long and the entertainment is strictly whatever a person can come up with. Like most Sourdoughs, reading is popular to fill up the hours so I am not completely uneducated, although I have to say that my attention span in school was not the best in the class. Of course, the preferred entertainment to fill up leisure hours is to lay on top of the opposite sex, doing - well, whatever comes natural. Or, sometimes, in my case, unnatural. Of course, even for a young person - ok, I’m not quite yet in my 30’s - that can’t be the only entertainment. Eventually, the stream runs dry for the day. ...

Not So Worthless

Jenny had been miserable for a long time, she had no self esteem and an eating disorder. The problems had resulted in her become quite the slut on campus. Aside from that she cut herself, her friend Ben tried to convince her to stop and did everything he could to make her see some value in herself. As she walked out of her class she headed for the parking lot. ...

Not Your Normal Dentist

Author's Note: I sincerly hope everyone enjoys my work. Please leave comments and anything you might like to see in the future. Danny checked his cell phone in the elevator even though he knew he would get no service. It wasn’t that he was expecting a call or a text, it was a nervous thing. As the door’s open, Danny stepped out and saw the sign that he was dreading… ...

Outre incident on the 19th floor.

Author's Note: In places that are not acknowledged to exist strange things happen or do they? After all the locality doesn’t actually exist so it must only be a dream, or is it? I was ready for my interview. It was a bit vague but it seemed important and exciting. It involved international travel and collecting and correlating research information on the outer frontiers of alternative energy development. Strangely, the physical requirement was for modestly overweight and non-athletic and sedentary males between the ages of 20 and 25. Similar ads with different addresses had differing physical requirements yet seemed to be from the same source When they invited me for the interview they sent me an id card that I think was imbedded with a microchip. They told me to be sure and bring it along..It was old building, downtown on Liberty Avenue and I took the elevator to the office on the 20th floor. The elevator seemed to stop short and there was no number in the square for the 19th floor. The door opened and stayed that way in spite of my efforts to get close it and continue on. After a moment an attractive brunette in an unusual but quite delectable form fitting one piece, sleeveless black pantsuit greeted me and said: “You must be here for an interview. Follow me.” Well that was certainly agreeable. Her unusually high black stiletto heels click clacked on the hardwood floor and the soles were red! Her shiny one piece outfit was made of latex! There were three other guys in the office waiting to be interviewed. They were as curious as I was and we agreed to meet at a bar across the street for happy hour after our interview. ...

P.E.T.T.T.

Author's Note: Inspired by the works of Coco. “So, if I could just get some clarification, then I’ll be able to file my report in good conscience.” Adele Trumble concluded, addressing the smartly dressed woman sitting on the other side of a low coffee table. The woman in question was Dr. Sylvia Forsett, Clinical Director for the Institute of Behavioral Studies and Treatment, which was basically a farmed-out mental institution. As a candidate for federal grants, Adele had been tasked with examining the hospital’s books, making sure that all was on the up and up. All had seemed in order, until she found that the hospital spent almost as much on “Equipment” as it did on foodstuffs. Spending so much on such a vague subject hadn’t sat well with the 42 year-old auditor. ...

Corey wanted to be an actress more than anything. Only 22, she had left her small town home and ventured out to the big city right after high school. She had always been told she would be a great actress. She certainly had the looks: 5'6" tall and 115 lbs with blonde hair, hazel eyes and an athletic figure. She certainly had no trouble filling the local theater when she was performing. But more than her looks, she knew she could act, if only she could catch a break. ...

Payback

Chapter One: Who, What, Where, Why? “Well welcome back to the land of the living Jessica.” I stood in front of the girl as she finished coming out of the drugged stupor and struggled to sit upright on the loveseat. Her wrists, covered in long kid gloves, were crossed and firmly bound behind her back. More white cord around her ankles, just above the black pumps with 4” heels, held her legs together, all very basic, but effective. ...

PDs Profession

Author's Note: Since I discovered this site I thought about contributing to its amazing content. This is my very first story and I welcome all feedback to improve my writing skills. I plan to submit a sequel which will be written in the girls’ point of view after her wake up. So please let me know any improvements which I should consider. Background Story It was still early in the morning, 6 o’clock when I got up. So I still had an hour to go before the package would arrive. Plenty of time to get ready. I took a shower and made myself ready for the day. When I got downstairs I paused and enjoyed the marvelous view out of my kitchen window. I was able to afford a pretty big house with a good amount of land around it. I smiled and said to myself “lucky bastard..”. I used to work in a hospital as a doctor. The payment was reasonable but all these extra hours pissed me off. Somehow I stumbled across my current profession. The payment is way better even though I only work about 20 hours a month at most. ...

PETS, Inc.

Chapter 1 Swirling images. Dark. Silence. Daytime? Nighttime? Should I be somewhere? Eyes, opening. Darkness still. It must still be early morning, she thought to herself. Plenty of time to sleep, to rest, to … That dream! She could only recall bits of it, fragments of memory as if it took place eons ago, the way dream memories usually are. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block out the images that floated behind her closed lids and drift back to the sleep from which she had awoken. ...

Pferman

Author's Note: A story about an aircraft mechanic that suddenly finds himself in a dire situation and a long, long way from home. Fortunately someone comes to his aid, but it doesn’t take long before he begins to wonder if it’s really worth it. Any criticism aimed at helping me become a better author is well appreciated. Smack! The wrench slipped, and even though Carl was pulling instead of pushing on it, his fingers still managed to be driven into a row a screw tails. The wrench few from his grasp, and he heard it go clattering off down the inside of the fuel tank, heading towards the fuselage of the airliner he was working on. ...
