Chapter 1: Gateway Connie, Alice and Kelly couldn’t believe how quickly civilization disappeared behind them. The string of potholes called a road wasn’t even wide enough for two cars to pass at the same time while keeping all four wheels on the pavement. It all added to the sense of adventure. This would be Kelly’s first time to the family estate: the “haunted” family estate. The stories from her childhood swam in her head. Most of them had seemed like tall-tales when she got older, and she didn’t really believe in the supernatural now. Still, those stories carried such an emotional weight that she couldn’t help but to be nervous and perhaps even a little fearful.
